XOYO relaunched under thew new management of the team behind The Warehouse (Leeds) in January of 2026 and I was invited down to their opening "first look" event on the 31st. With a free bar and permission to bring my Canon 90D I was giddy with excitement. My largest venue so far and with an incredible, art exhibit-like new lighting system, all the practice and lessons learned were about to pay off.
As a venue showcase rather than focusing on a crowd and capturing their vibe (though as you can see, I did some of that too), I took the objective to photograph any detail that I could, drawing on my street photography experience - particularly with architecture - to capture the detail of the venue itself. A glowing futurisitc nightclub straight out of a scene from John Wick. Glowing tubes crawling across the ceiling, casting incredible reflections on the famous Big Red Horns, and seamless OLED cubes that - when turned off - looked like you were staring into a weird glitch in reality.
Nifty Fifty mounted, my 28-80 spare, and jaw taped to the top of my skull so I didn't trip, I spent an hour combing the venue for frames and bouncing between the two rooms gathering as many photos as I could. One day I hope to return for more!
